Have Ford COPIED My GT?! New Heritage Livery and Shelby GT500KR

Ford have dropped a teaser of the brand new GT Heritage tribute to Alan Mann Racing, and it's rather similar to my own Shmeemobile Ford GT! Let's check out what we can see so far, plus think about upgrading my Shelby GT500 to the new GT500KR spec.

Each year of production of the new Ford GT there has been a special tribute Heritage livery; the first four of which matched the specifications of the original Le Mans 24H winners from 1966, 67, 68 and 69, with the more recent cars linking to liveries worn by particular or other special GT40s of the 1960s. The most recent of these to be present is the red and gold of Alan Mann Racing, from whom I took inspiration when choosing the spec for my own Ford GT back 3.5 years ago in mid 2018.

That's not all in terms of news of fast Fords this week as Shelby American have also pulled the wraps off the 900hp+ GT500KR, the 3rd King of the Road after the initial car from 1967 and the 2nd generation in 2007. Featuring a carbon fibre hood, new wheels, a Whipple supercharger, upgraded suspension components and more, the new GT500KR is going to be extremely limited with only 225 kits, 60 of which can be applied to existing 2020/2021 cars like mine. It begs the question, how epic would that be to upgrade my GT500 while it's still in the USA?!

Thanks for watching, Tim
