FLYING My Ford GT to New York USA!
My Ford GT is heading to the USA! It's time to get started with my biggest adventure ever and that's to put the American supercar on a flight to New York ready for my tour around the whole country. Before that though, the last drive in Europe and preparations at the airport to load it up before the crossing to the other side of the Atlantic Ocean.
I've been planning this tour for a very long time, and I can't believe it's finally arrived and getting started. Kicking off we're at Topaz where the car has been cleaned up and prepared ahead of transit, both in terms of a proper clean as well as fitting some new PPF to the rear bumper following how hot it got during recent escapades.
However, before it can go anywhere, I actually need to take it out for a last drive because to board a flight the fuel tank needs to be below 25% remaining and at the time it was nearer a half. As such it's a 'final drive' in Europe before it's next driven on a different continent. The previous time I really enjoyed a drive was actually down in Monaco, so as always it's fantastic to stretch the legs!
Next up, with the fuel tank at the appropriate level, the car is loaded with Turbo Transport to take it to Amsterdam for the flight from Schiphol! If you're wondering why the Netherlands, this all comes down to cargo flight routing that can transport a car in the perfect timing to minimise cargo wait times and storage fees around the flights I'm taking myself. Not only that, but the process with CARS Europe out of Amsterdam Schiphol is actually incredibly smooth and brilliantly managed.
Without knowing what was going to be possible, I got to see how the car is loaded onto the 16ft palette, strapped down to the base, checked, photographed (for insurance), prepared and documented before it's then taken away by forklift truck to go through the system and ultimately board a cargo 747!
I might have said it a few times too many, but to me this whole concept of taking the car to the USA is something I've dreamed of doing since I was a teenage over a decade ago. As such, fair to say I'm rather excited for what's going to be coming!
