The VW XL1 is the most fuel efficient car in the world.

VW has revealed the ultra frugal XL1 at Geneva 2013. Behind the StarTrek styling is a radical, lightweight two seater capable of 314mpg while emitting just 21g/km CO2. A 47bhp two-cylinder 800cc TDI engine is backed up by a 27bhp electric motor. Its capable of running 31miles on battery power alone and 310miles in Hybrid mode despite having a mere10-litre fuel tank. A drag coefficient (or Cd) rating of just 0.189 and skinny tyres help it slip through the air while. Its fly-weight 795kg mass helps it hit 62mph from rest in 12.7seconds and run into its 99.4mph limiter.
