The £1m Aston Martin Vantage V600 Says Farewell to an Era!
The Aston Martin Vantage V600 is the final and ultimate rendition of a legendary car! With only 7 Coupes and 7 Roadsters being built, it combines the 600hp naturally aspirated V12 engine found from the GT12 with a 7 speed manual gearbox. The era of true drivers cars is coming to an end, but this is the way for then to go out with a bang, albeit a costly one at £1 million for the Coupe and £1.2m for the Roadster.
At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, we can take a look at the V600 as it makes its dynamic debut with a blast up the hillclimb. After a walkaround of the carbon bodied commission from Aston Martin Q, it's time to jump on board with Chris Goodwin, development driver for Aston, to experience the sound, feel and drama.
For me, the Vantage V600 represents the ultimate incarnation of one of my favourite cars ever. The V8 Vantage launched ahead of a lifespan that lasted over a decade, and along the way spawned some fantastic variants, but this very much represents the end of the era. The V600 pays tribute to the 1999 Vantage by the same name, which itself paid tribute to the 1959 outright Le Mans 24H success. While the power is still 'only' 600 horsepower, what it stands for is something truly special.
