New FERRARI 296 GTB! Full First Look and V6 Hybrid Sound
Join me for a first look at the brand new Ferrari 296 GTB! The new mid-engine supercar sports a hybrid V6 setup offering 830hp, lots of technology inherited from the SF90 Stradale, and nods to classic Ferraris in the design. Let's check it out in detail!
Powered by a 3.0l twin turbo V6 making 663hp and an electric motor between the ICE and gearbox adding 167hp, the new 296 GTB offers a total output of 830hp and 740Nm with an 8spd DCT transmission. This means 0-100km/h (62mph) in 2.9s, 0-200km/h (124mph) in 7.3s and a top speed in excess of 330km/h or 205mph while also have an electric range of 25km (16 miles) thanks to the 7.45kWh battery pack. Despite the hybrid system present, the dry weight is just 1,470kg, and the car incorporates active aero to offer a maxmimum of 360kg of downforce at 250km/h (155mph).
Visual cues come from the likes of the Ferrari 246 Dino in the shapes of the buttresses and rear decklid; the 1963 250 LM for the arches and bodywork, the F8 Tributo up front, and the gloss black A-pillars inspired by a number of the recent special editions like the J50, P80/C and 458 MM Speciale.
At Fiorano, the 296 GTB has set a lap time of 1'21, closely on the heels of the SF90 Stradale at 1'19 and 812 Competizione at 1'20, in a series production hybrid supercar that joins the line-up as an additional model, as Ferrari say, as opposed to replacing the F8 Tributo. Pricing is yet to be confirmed, but expect it to sit above the F8, although significantly below the SF90 Stradale.
