My Senna Visits the McLaren Factory for a LEGO SURPRISE!
McLaren and LEGO have built a full size Senna model from LEGO bricks, so what could be better than to jump into my real Senna to venture back to its birthplace to take a look! While running-in the car in the process, we can also think about the new car arriving in the garage any day now and the plans ahead for my Senna.
Kicking off in the car storage, I'm joined by Seb Delanney with his Alpine A110 in rally livery taking the spot of my GT8 that's over at my home. It's been a while since Seb and I caught up on the channel but a memory of days gone by and the arrival of the blue crew - perhaps a hint towards things to come?!
Taking the Senna out and departing towards the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, we can think a bit about the running in process in cars like this and the limitations on actually using them. As well as gearing up for the new V12 car that's arriving in the garage this Saturday, 30th March at 18:00 UK time!
In the McLaren Thought Leadership Centre, it's all about the new LEGO Speed Champions Senna; a 1:1 scale replica that took 6 months and 42 staff to build with 500,000 million LEGO bricks that weigh in at 1,700kg - about 500kg more than the actual car. The car is built very much as an experience and you can take a seat inside to start it up, turn on the headlights, and even use the reversing camera and rev it from the throttle pedal.
Any outing in the Senna is a good one, but particularly special to drive it back to where it was originally assembled. This is still early days for the Senna with a busy year ahead; kicking off this coming week with IAMS, the Amsterdam Motorshow. From there it will head to Spring Event and then on to Car Freitag for some fun ahead of a busy summer.
Thanks for watching, Tim
