Mercedes CLE review: Is it really worth £75,000?
The Carwow Black Friday sale is now live: https://bit.ly/Carwow-Black-Friday-Sale
This is the new Mercedes CLE!
It’s a replacement for both the C-Class Coupe & E-Class Coupe, but is it the best of both worlds? Mat’s about to take a look and find out.
In terms of the design, it looks pretty smart from the outside! The grille comes full of mini Mercedes stars, all surrounding a large badge that sits front and centre. It’s flanked on either side by real vents, and all-in-all the cars looks pretty sporty from the front. Along the side the smart looks continue, with creases running along the whole side coupled with black surroundings around the windows. At the back, it looks nice, but there’s one key issue - fake exhausts! When will Mercedes learn?!
Step inside and the CLE is a largely nice place to be. There’s a huge infotainment screen in the centre of the dash, and the digital dial screen comes with multiple different displays. The cabin overall looks quite nice, but look a bit closer and there are a couple of areas covered in cheap plastics!
There are a couple of engines available, including a 2-litre turbo diesel! This produces 197hp, while the two 2-litre turbo petrols produce 204hp and 258hp respectively. There’s a plug-in hybrid available as well, which creates 313hp. There’s also a 3-litre straight-six - this produces 381hp in the 450 we’re reviewing here, while in the range-topping AMG it makes 449hp.
The CLE range starts at £46,000, but it climbs a fair bit if you’re looking up the range. The 450 we have here costs around £73,000, and it’s not even the range-topping AMG!
So is it worth it? Stick with Mat to find out!
