I'VE KEPT A SECRET! First Look at a NEW ADDITION to the Shmeemobiles

I'm excited to announce that the Ford Mustang GTD is joining the Shmeemobiles! You guessed it was coming, and we're at the Goodwood Festival of Speed to check it out, including the Carbon Series, Performance Pack, and Multimatic suspension. This is a monster, bring it on, I cannot wait!

It wouldn't be a Goodwood FOS without the introduction of a new addition to the collection and this year has been a case of being spoiled with two, after just announcing the Ferrari 12Cilindri will be arriving in due course. In Ford vs Ferrari fashion it's going to be an exciting period ahead, as the collection of each at The Shmuseum grows.

Having owned my Ford GT for almost 6 years, and built up a collection of fast Fords including the Shelby GT500, Dark Horse, Focus RS Heritage, and currently running the MS-RT Transit Custom, the idea of the GTD grabbed my attention when I first heard about it around 2 years ago. Naturally then, as the build up to the launch came around, I was very excited to receive a little box containing a poker chip; not only the invitation to the private reveal in Las Vegas that we kept off camera, but also representing an allocation for the upcoming supercar.

The Mustang GTD is no ordinary Mustang, this time with a transaxle configuration mated to the Predator powerplant; a 5.2l supercharged V8 pushing out 800hp. However, we're able to take a look around the Carbon Series car that was launched at the recent 24 Hours of Le Mans, which also wears the Performance Pack and Chromo Flare paintwork.

While there's very little information on timescales at this point in time; perhaps if lucky it'll be late 2024 but most likely 2025. My allocation is for a car in the USA, where it will live and be used for the trips ahead in 2025 and beyond. Spec details haven't been announced but I will certainly opt for the Performance Pack, the rest we need to wait and see what's available.
