Hugh Jackman arrives at The Wolverine premiere in Audi R8 2014. The stars of The Wolverine, distributed by 20th Century Fox, were joined by a very special guest -- the Audi R8 -- at the premiere of the film in London's Leicester Square last night (16 July 2013). The smart occasion was attended by numerous big names including Will Yun Lee, Rila Fukushima, Tao Okamoto, Famke Janssen and director James Mangold - all of whom were chauffeured to the top of the red carpet by a fleet of Audi A8s.
The Movie, due for UK general release on July 25th, is based on the celebrated comic book arc. This epic action adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic if character of the X-Men universe to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he will face a host of unexpected and deadly opponents in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality.
In the film, the character Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) is driven by Yukio (Rila Fukushima) in an Audi R8 Spyder -- similar to the one which was put on display on a specially erected plinth on the red carpet. Additional vehicles featured in the film include the Audi A8 L and the Ducati Diavel.
Hugh Michael Jackman (born 12 October 1968) is an Australian actor and producer who is involved in film, musical theatre, and television.
Jackman has won many international recognition for his roles in major films, notably as superhero, period, and romance characters. He is known for his long-running role as Wolverine in the X-Men film series, as well as for his leads in Kate & Leopold, Van Helsing, The Prestige, Australia, Real Steel, and Les Misérables. His work in Les Misérables earned him his first Academy Award nomination for Best Actor and his first Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy in 2013. He is also a singer, dancer, and actor in stage musicals, and won a Tony Award for his role in The Boy from Oz.
In November 2008, Open Salon named Jackman one of the sexiest men alive.[2] Later that same month, People magazine named Jackman "Sexiest Man Alive." A three-time host of the Tony Awards, winning an Emmy Award for one of these appearances, Jackman also hosted the 81st Academy Awards on 22 February 2009.
Jackman was chosen as People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive of 2008.[3]
In the ABC comedy-drama Scrubs, one of the more prominent running gags is Dr. Cox's (John C. McGinley) irrational hatred of Jackman.
In the 7th season of Punk'd, Jackman was led to believe that he had accidentally blown up director Brett Ratner's house.[79]
On the Season 6, Episode 13 of Will & Grace, which aired on 10 February 2004, the character Jack McFarland (Sean Hayes), mentions he is going to see The Boy From Oz, because he can not wait to see Hugh Jackman. He later discusses wanting to sue Jackman for stealing some of his dance moves.
The Audi R8[4] (Typ 42)[7] is a mid-engine, 2-seater sports car,[4][8] which uses Audi's trademark quattro permanent all-wheel drive system.[4][9] It was introduced by the German automaker Audi AG in 2006.
The car was exclusively designed, developed, and manufactured by Audi AG's high performance private subsidiary company, quattro GmbH, and is based on the Lamborghini Gallardo platform.[10] The fundamental construction of the R8 is based on the Audi Space Frame,[4] and uses an aluminium monocoque which is built using space frame principles. The car is built by quattro GmbH in a newly renovated factory at Audi's 'aluminium site' at Neckarsulm in Germany.[4]
In 2005, Audi announced that the name of the successful Audi R8 race car would be used for a new road car in 2007, the Audi R8, based on the Audi Le Mans quattro concept car (designed by Frank Lamberty and Julian Hoenig), appearing at the 2003 International Geneva Motor Show, and 2003 Frankfurt International Motor Show. The R8 development program began in 2004, Lamberty's design being approved and frozen for production. Production body prototypes began field testing in January 2006. The R8 road car was officially launched at the Paris Auto Show on 30 September 2006. There was some confusion with the name, which the car shares with the 24 Hours of Le Mans winning R8 Le Mans Prototype (LMP). 6-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Jacky Ickx described the R8 as "the best handling road car today"
