Here's Why I Sold My Porsche 911 GT3!
After making the shock announcement that I have sold my Porsche 911 GT3, allow me to explain the reasoning behind why it had to sadly leave the garage so soon. Primarily it is due to the imminent earlier arrival of my Ford GT, combined with a number of factors financially making it impossible for me to keep every car.
In my garage there are two primary categories of cars, the ones I intend to keep as part of a long term collection and the ones I intend to use excessively before eventually selling when the time is right. The former includes my McLaren 675LT Spider, Aston Martin Vantage GT8 and Ford Focus RS Heritage, whereas the latter includes the Mercedes-AMG GT R, Focus RS Red Edition and of course the 911 GT3. The intention was to run the GT3 for longer than I have been able to but I have had to pay the 50% deposit on the Ford GT ahead of delivery in a few months and that means I need to open up some funds from one of the cars in my garage. Originally I was not expecting the Ford GT until Q4 2019 and did not know of the date moving earlier until after taking delivery of the GT3.
To answer some more of your questions, many want to know about the customised door sill plaques and whether this is a problem. It's actually quite easy to remove them and replace them with the standard fit item so it is up to the new owner whether they wish to do so or would prefer to keep them.
Another frequent comment is with regards to how little the car has been used - where it actually featured in now 18 videos! It's done laps of the Nordschleife, Nurburgring GP, runs on the Autobahn, daily driving, road trips, events, and lots of normal driving. Over the short 6 month ownership it covered as many miles as most GT3s would do in 3 years - a fairly accelerated ownership experience.
Anyway, here are the reasons, at the end of the day I had to make a choice and this is what I've gone with to ensure I've got the right line-up for me. My AMG GT R is soon to have its next stage of RENNtech upgrades, and I suspect you're going to rather like it!
