BUYING a New AMG G63 4x4²?!
The new Mercedes-AMG G63 4x4² has arrived, and it would be amazing to see one as a Shmeemobile! Let's check out the latest G Wagon, explore the Mercedes stand, and take in Virgil Abloh's Project Maybach and the C111. There's more to the G63 4x4² story to explain...
After the previous generation's G500 4x4², this time around it is based on the full fat G63 with the 585hp 4.0l TT V8. The formula continues with portal axles, increased ground clearance, and a series of rugged off-roading elements from the large off-road tyres, to bars front and rear, and additional lighting and storage systems. To keep a long story short, it's a beast!
Mercedes-Benz showcase the new G on the stand at Pebble Beach in some very special company including the Project Maybach concept; a collaboration between Mercedes' chief of design, Gordon Wagener, and the late fashion design icon, Virgil Abloh. It combines luxury and utility in a form never previously seen, with elements familiar from the G Wagons to materials and luxuries of the Maybach brand.
Additionally, the Mercedes-Benz Museum have supplied the famous 1970 C111-II from Germany for display, the very same car I experienced at the Dream Cars event and drove myself. It sits alongside the Vision AMG concept, on a stand also featuring the EQG concept and Maybach S680 limited edition to feature elements of the Project Maybach.
However, given I'm clearly a fan of the new G63 4x4², why have I not yet ordered one!? It's more complex than might initially meet the eye, but all is explained in the video.
Thanks for watching, Tim
