Mercedes AMG - The A 45 AMG sees Mercedes-AMG embarking on a new era. For the first time in the company's history extending back over more than 45 years, Mercedes-Benz's performance brand is offering a fascinating high-performance vehicle in the compact class.
A 45 AMG (2013-)
It included a AMG 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine, AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission, AMG sports suspension with independently developed front and rear axles, electromechanical AMG speed-sensitive sports steering, AMG high-performance braking system and 3-stage ESP with "SPORT Handling" mode.
The vehicle was unveiled in the first quarter of 2013.
The production version of the third generation of A-Class vehicles was based on the Concept A-Class, and was unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show,[50][51] and later in 2012 Paris Motor Show.[52]
The vehicles were available in dealerships beginning in September 2012. Early models include A 180 BlueEFFICIENCY, A 200 BlueEFFICIENCY, A 250 BlueEFFICIENCY, A 180 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY, A 200 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY, A 220 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY.
Japan models went on sale on 2013-01-17. Early Japan models include A 180 BlueEFFICIENCY, A 180 BlueEFFICIENCY Sports, A 250 SPORT.
Design of the new A-Class is more dynamic and focused on younger people compared with its predecessor, now designed to be a direct competitor to the BMW 1 Series and the Audi A3. The radically new design that first appeared on Concept A-Class at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show, has changed only in details such as lights, bumpers and mirrors. The design of the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class reflects the new Mercedes-Benz design strategy.
It is a version of A 250 BlueEFFICIENCY with AMG Sport appointment line, 18-inch high-gloss black AMG light-alloy wheels in a 5-spoke design with 235/40 R 18 tyres, red-painted brake callipers, modified exhaust system.
They are limited (100 units each) versions of A 180 BlueEFFICIENCY for Japan market. A 180 BlueEFFICIENCY EDITION NEXT includes Jupiter red body colour, leather twin black interior upholstery, 17-inch 5-twin-spoke wheels, leather wrapped sports steering wheel. A 180 BlueEFFICIENCY Sports EDITION NEXT includes Polar silver body colour, leather DINAMICA black interior upholstery, AMG design exterior, 18-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke wheels, AMG sports steering wheel, memory full power driver seat, privacy glass at rear left/right/luggage room, black door mirror.
They are versions of A 180 vehicles with lower fuel consumptions, by lowering drag coefficient to 0.26, additional aerodynamic optimisation measures include, the partial covering of the upper section of the radiator grille, aerodynamically shaped spring link coverings that improve the flow of air along the underbody at the rear axle, lowering suspension by 15 millimetres. Other changes include revised generator management system, manual transmission with longer gear ratios in the higher gears, round LED daytime running lamps set into the bumper (excluding vehicles with bi-xenon headlamps or the Intelligent Light System).
