REUNITED With 'My' Bugatti Veyron Super Sport WRE! The Speed Record Hypercar
I'm reunited with this particular Bugatti Veyron Super Sport WRE! It's the very car that held the 268mph top speed record, and the same car I rode on board for my first ever hypercar lap of the Nurburgring Nordschleife. This time around, we're flat out at Goodwood!
Bugatti have held a number of top speed records in recent years, including a trio of cars all of which are here at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Firstly, in 2010 the Veyron Super Sport WRE reaching 268mph, then in 2015 the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse WRC that achieved 254mph without a roof, then the latest run of the Chiron Super Sport 300+ going to a huge 304.77mph.
However, for my final run of this year's Festival of Speed, it's a return to the passenger seat of the WRE (World Record Edition) with Pierre-Henri Raphanel at the wheel, who piloted this exact car to that record top speed for a production car at the time. The last time I experienced this Veyron was actually with Andy Wallace for a passenger lap of the Nurburgring ahead of the N24 in 2015; 7 years prior!
Officially, Bugatti made 5 WREs, and 8 WRCs, but these are the official factory cars and it's amazing to see them still in action and being used for events such as Goodwood. I last met with Pierre-Henri when visiting Molsheim for an experience in the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport itself, this time however it's everything coming together in a very special way.
Thanks for watching, Tim
